Julie Nye

Julie was born in Harrow, Middlesex and grew up in Warwickshire in the 60’s. Both her mother and her sister Joanna are also successful artists. She left school at 16 and despite her strong desire to attend art college, took her father’s advice to train as a secretary.

Julie’s longing to paint was eventually satisfied when she was on maternity leave. She has never looked back and became a professional artist at 33. For the last 15 years she has been a commission artist painting portraits, mainly in watercolours and pastels and through her website has had commissions worldwide as far as America.

Julie’s love of portraiture and figurative painting together with her passion for working in oils has led her to this new venture painting jazz musicians.

In July 2006 she became the official jazz portrait artist for the international Jazz Divas Festival at Ventor on the Isle of Wight.
